Wordpress Tiger Administration Plugin

The current default WordPress administration area is functional, but I felt it could be improved. For several reasons, I didn’t want to touch the XHTML framework of the admin, but instead relied on the power of CSS2 to manipulate the presentation. The whole package has been wrapped up into a single plugin. Just install and activate. The new design will be immediately visible.

Bury the search bar!

Have you ever tried to perform a search using Digg’s search field? Did you find the results to be irrelevant? Well, you’re not the only one.Any way you cut it, Digg’s search function is in desperate need of an overhaul. A routine search for a fairly popular topic should produce relevant results, however, as it turns out, the news search feature provides more misses than hits, no matter how the search parameters are adjusted. When searching for a story on Digg, better results can be found using Google. I admit Digg was never in the search business, but as it stands now, the search feature is in need of a desperate burial. Hopefully a more reliable alternative could take its place.

40+ Tooltips Scripts With AJAX, JavaScript & CSS

Web users love informative clues. Whatever questions and misunderstandings might occur - delivering precise answers immediately is the primary task a responsive user interface should be able to cope with. To do that, developers have to consider subtle and well-thought tooltips - used correctly, they can greatly improve user experience and help users to get things done. In Web such “responsive” hints can be provided by tooltips. E.g., unclear input fields in web forms are perfect examples of a situation you might be willing to use a tooltip for. Most of solutions are JavaScript- and AJAX-based, however we’ve also managed to find some lightweight CSS-based solutions. To install and use the script, it’s often enough to include the JavaScript library in the source code and provide the hint as plain text within the “title”-attribute. Sometimes you can also insert URLs, images, tables and further elements - basically, it can be almost everything you’d ever wanted it to be.
